8th Annual "Wagons for Veterans"

The Texarkana Area Chapter # 278 of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc. will be hosting our 8th Annual “Wagons for Veterans” to raise funds to assist local disabled and needy veterans. This event is to be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, Arkansas. The public is encouraged and invited to attend. For $20 ($10 for children 12 and under), you will be able to eat various menu items fixed the old-fashioned way – in cast iron pots and skillets over an open fire, just like they did on the old cattle drives. Opening ceremonies are at 11:15 am, meals served at 11:30 am. Other displays, Iron Munchers, Square dancing, a band, bounces houses, car-jeep-bike show, antique tractors and entertainment will be on site. We will also have a live auction. The first seven events were a success, and we were able to assist local veterans and their families to the tune of over $120,000 (as of now). This has involved everything from home repair, utility bills, building wheelchair ramps, funeral expenses, food boxes for needy veterans coming thru the local VA Clinic, school books, rent, medical aid assistance, hygiene packs & socks for homeless veterans, work clothes & boots, gasoline, burnouts, and donations to the Hero’s Pantry which feeds around 125 veterans and their families on a monthly basis. That is possible because of our sponsors and those who came out to partake of the fantastic food. Also, a big thank you to the cooks and their crews who prepared the food, and everyone who volunteered to assist on this endeavor! We are looking for sponsors for this year’s event. We have several categories of sponsorship: $2000, $1000, $500, $250, & $100. We are also looking for donations of items for our live auction.
