A total lunar eclipse occurs when Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow across the Moon. As sunlight filters through Earthβs atmosphere, the Moon glows red and is often called a βBlood Moon.β Lunar eclipses are safe to view with the naked eye and perfect for all ages.
