The production is directed by Emmy-nominated Doriana Sanchez, an entertainment veteran who served as Cher's director, choreographer, and creative consultant for more than 35 years.

"This show is a timeless classic," said Sanchez. "It holds a special place in my heart because it's a story about standing up for what's right, even when the odds are stacked against you. The combination of humor, magic, and heart drew me to this musical, as well as the exceptional local talent, and I'm thrilled to be directing it for Wine Country Theatre."

Quinn Newman from Paso Robles has the title role of Matilda Wormwood. Although Quinn is just 10 years old, she has a substantial resume featuring dancing and acting.  

“She is one of the most hardworking, determined, focused, and by far the kindest young person I have ever worked with,” said Sanchez. “Quinn has that special ‘IT’ factor, true Star Quality, and is definitely a young artist to watch for.” 

Featuring a cast of more than thirty local actors, Matilda showcases one of community theatre's greatest strengths: bringing together performers of all ages and experience levels to create live theatre that everyone can enjoy. 

Rounding out the cast are Jon Estes as Miss Trunchbull, Tara Brinkman as Miss Honey, Scott Saunders as Mr. Wormwood, and Samantha Simmons as Mrs. Wormwood.

Wine Country Theatre, a nonprofit organization serving the North County for over twelve years, produces a wide variety of theatrical experiences, including musicals, comedies, dramas, and staged readings.
