Truman Scholarship Info Sessions (Tempe Campus)
The Office of National Scholarships Advisement will be hosting information sessions on the Harry S. Truman Scholarship, which provides $30,000 in funding to students pursuing careers in public service, public policy, and government service. Truman Scholars also receive intensive mentoring, access to a professional network, and offers of federal internships. This session will also include information on other fellowships for those pursuing public service careers, including the Boren Scholarship, Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Program, and Pickering Scholarship, among others.
The Truman Scholarship is open to current juniors (i.e. those who will graduate in 2018-2019) who are US citizens. The scholarship does not have a minimum GPA, nor is it restricted to specific majors - competitive applicants must, however, have a remarkable record of leadership and community, volunteer, or political service. Interested applicants can read about previous ASU Truman Scholars Frank Smith and Danielle Back to gain a better perspective of the program. Each US institution may nominate up to four students for the Truman Scholarship; the deadline to apply for ASU nomination is November 8.
