With just two lights and a clear understanding of placement and purpose, you can create polished, flattering portraits without guesswork. This workshop breaks studio lighting down into a simple, repeatable workflow that you can use in any studio environment.
In this hands-on session, we’ll work step-by-step through a basic two-light setup. We’ll learn how to shape light for facial definition, how to use fill to control contrast, and how to evaluate lighting ratios so you can create images that feel natural, dramatic, or anywhere in between — on purpose.

You’ll learn:

    Key Light Placement – How to shape the face and define structure
    Fill Techniques – Controlling contrast and mood with intention
    Lighting Ratios – What they mean, how to see them, and how to use them
    Modeling Light Awareness – Pre-visualizing before you click the shutter
    Common Mistakes – What leads to flat, harsh, or lifeless light (and how to avoid it)

This workshop takes place in the studio, working directly with lighting equipment and a live model. You’ll get hands-on time adjusting lights and photographing, so you walk away knowing how to set up this workflow on your own.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to walk into a studio and know exactly what to do — creating intentional, well-shaped light with confidence.
