- **Event Description**: On this month’s guided Park Ranger hike, you can document our desert’s flora and fauna for the City Nature Challenge: a friendly international competition between cities to document the world's biodiversity! When you participate in the City Nature Challenge, you are participating in citizen science. Citizen science invites anyone, regardless of scientific training, to help collect and contribute data for scientific research projects of all sizes.

The hike starts at 7 a.m. at the Arizona Heritage Center parking lot, north of Curry Road by the baseball field. You can join for the whole hike or meet us halfway around 8 a.m. at Evelyn Hallman Park. Bring your smartphone if you have one, and the staff can show you how to set up iNaturalist and collect great observations. Bring comfortable, closed-toed shoes and plenty of water.

Parking/meeting note: We will meet at the ballfield parking lot at Papago Park, 1000 N. College Ave., located next to the ballfield on the NW corner of Curry Rd. and College Ave. in Tempe. This is on the north side of Curry Rd. not the south side of Curry Rd.
