Temecula One Block Challenge™ Field Day #1!

We’re bringing the One Block Challenge™ (1BC) to Temecula, and this field day is the kickoff. 1BC is the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation's practical, grower-led initiative that asks participants to dedicate one clearly defined block of their vineyard and trial a core set of regenerative practices for at least a year. The support is local and in-person: 1BC runs through a regional cohort, with regular field days so growers can learn directly from one another’s blocks instead of figuring it out alone.

This Field Day is open to all winegrowers and vintners across Temecula, whether new to regenerative viticulture or already experimenting with on-farm changes. If you plan to enroll a block for the 2026 season, this is where you’ll understand the commitments, meet the regional 1BC team, and leave knowing what the first steps are.

The One Block Challenge™, developed by the Regenerative Viticulture Foundation and piloted in Paso Robles in February 2025, gives growers a low-risk, practical entry point into regenerative agriculture. Participants commit one vineyard block—or even a few rows—to trial selected regenerative practices for a single season. Each grower chooses from a regionally adapted menu that may include diverse cover crops, compost applications, removing herbicides, reducing tillage, and integrating livestock. Baseline and year-end soil assessments help participants understand the changes on their block and decide whether to expand these practices more widely.

The One Block Challenge is now active in New Zealand, South Africa, Texas, and the UK, and Napa, with additional California regions launching soon. If you’ve been waiting for something structured and local, this is it.

The (RVF) is a UK-registered charity that advocates for the global transition to regenerative farming in vineyards. Its work focuses on translating science into practice and supporting growers in adopting methods that restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and strengthen vineyard resilience.
