Hands on ideas for a healthier region.

🌳 Ecofest is Gladstone Regional Council’s FREE annual sustainability celebration, bringing the community together since 2019 to explore smarter, greener ways to live.

Join local organisations, businesses and community groups for a vibrant day of discovery.

Program outline:

🌽 High-energy performances by Formidable Vegetable, blending music and sustainability with a free live band performance, a Zero Waste Permaculture Workshop and an engaging Zero Waste Beatbox session exploring creative approaches to sustainable living.

🎪 Step inside the colourful pop-up world of Seams Together. These free, interactive performances invite audiences into a tent made from upcycled fabrics, where two eccentric seamstresses share simple sewing and repair skills through storytelling, hands-on activities and collaborative art. Limited seating available, with space for spectators.

🥖 Reconnect with traditional skills through Lost Traditions workshops, including hands-on yoghurt making, kombucha brewing, and sourdough starter and baking demonstrations. Free sessions with limited participant numbers, plus the opportunity to watch and learn.

🪢 Experience Ethical Art by local artist Christine Holden, whose large-scale sculptures transform discarded and found materials into powerful works reflecting on human impact on the environment. Christine will also host relaxed public weaving workshops, welcoming participants to join in at any time.

Throughout the day, enjoy live music, prize draws, creative workshops and inspiring demonstrations that show how small changes can create a big impact.

Ecofest is about action. It’s designed to inspire and empower the Gladstone community to make positive, practical changes that add up to a greener future. In 2026, the event aligns with the World Environment Day theme #ClimateAction, shining a light on the power of working together to rethink how we live, work and care for our planet.

♻️ Small steps really do make a big difference. Reduce, reuse, recycle, and inspire others along the way.

Please remember to bring your own water bottle, reusable coffee cup and shopping bags.

🚯 This is a reusable, biodegradable and compostable product event. No single-use plastics allowed.

Be part of the change and help shape a more sustainable region.
