Central Rabin Memorial Rally: Remembering the murder, fighting for democracy - 17 years since the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin
17 years ago, on the night of November 4th 1995, Israel’s Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, was assassinated.
In recent years the schism within Israeli society has grown much wider and we are witnessing an attempt to cloud and dilute the memory of his murder and its meaning. Without a public will to shape a deep and meaningful message that can confront the realities of Israel in 2012, the meaning of this event has morphed into a time of personal remembrance, void of any moral, critical and values-based remarks.
Out of this desire to remind Israeli society that Rabin's assassination is a burning warning sign against the destruction of democracy in Israel; out of the understanding that this rally must be a loud and strong voice against the violence and racism that became so prominent in our society; out of all of this we have decided to organize this year's rally under the slogan of "Remembering the Murder, Fighting for our Democracy!"
join us in this commemoration and in the struggle for Democracy
