This course supports and enables parents, whanau, and ex athletes to become involved and support athletes of all ages participate in Lifesaving Sport while taking their first step on the SLSNZ Surf Official Pathway.
	
This course is delivered in two parts;
1.	Online Pre-Learning Module
2.	2-hour Practical Course
The Surf Officials Award is achieved by on beach assessment at a minimum of 2 surf sports events by an approved L1 Assessor across a minimum of 2 different L1 roles.

Pre-requisites  Current member of a SLSC, 16 years of age, and completion of online self-directed learning

At the completion of this course and in gaining the Surf Official Level 1 Award:
Observe, Record, Report
Identify the athlete centered approach to officiating
Identify and demonstrate selected roles of surf officials
Demonstrate knowledge of effective communication
Identify risk management processes and values relevant to surf officials
Demonstrate knowledge of the rules of Lifesaving Sport
Live Heats and technology practical use and application
