Come and support local artists from across the motu as they share their work with you.

The Incubator Creative Hub (based in the gorgeous Tauranga Historic Village) is a nationally recognised space where Aotearoa's arts scene grows and thrives.

?️ The People's Gallery – Toi ka Rere: Ngā Hihi o Matariki - Exhibition by Tauira o Te Wānanga o Aotearoa Toi Paematua Toi Araata  
Kua haehae ngā hihi o Matariki , the rays of Matariki are spread. 
This exhibition brings together a body of work created by tauira of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, studying Toi Paematua Toi Ataata. The exhibition reflects growth, experimentation, and resilience, showcasing the depth of learning and creative inquiry undertaken throughout their journey.

? The Pot House Gallery:  Cera'muka Exhibition of Ceramics by Hayley Smith.  This Matariki will see a symphony of hand sculptured ceramics that have traditional Māori origins. "Whakarākei" - is a selection of adornments that will combine muka - extracts from harakeke/flax together with ceramics that have been thoughtfully prepared for this Matariki season.
Hayley's works are glazed and fired using our community resources and kilns; encompassing many years of the sharing knowledge to deliver this body of works.

?️ The Incubator Gallery- Te Waka o Rangi: Stories Written in the Stars - Exhibition by Students of Northern Health School

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Northern Health School as our feature exhibition in the Incubator Gallery this Matariki.

Their beautiful display explores Te Waka o Rangi and the many layers of meaning held within Matariki - stars, stories, and remembrance - brought to life through harakeke whetū and a striking manu tukutuku created by ākonga/students.
Alongside this, the exhibition shares the journey of "What's in a Name?", where curiosity about the local street names 'Harata Way' and 'Hoariri Way' led ākonga to the rich local history of the Battle of Pukehinahina and the courage of Harata, a young Ngāi Tamarāwaho wahine.
This collaborative exhibition celebrates the creativity, learning, and connection of ākonga, kaiako, whānau, and the wider community.
