About the event

Field Practitioner's Guide to Equine Internal Medicine Ultrasonography
Join Sarah Humphreys, DVM, DACVIM (Large Animal Internal Medicine) for this CE opportunity for veterinarians covering all things ultrasound

About this Event

Join us for a day of continuing education (RACE-approval pending) where we’ll dive into equine internal medicine ultrasound examinations! This 6-hour course will be divided into a morning lecture portion followed by an afternoon of hands-on practicing ultrasound examinations, with opportunity for feedback and discussion of findings or challenges encountered.

Specific anatomic locations that will be discussed and imaged in the horse will include: the abdomen (focusing on both the FLASH ultrasound exam and the complete abdominal exam), thorax, heart, and vessels.

Learning objectives for the course:

1. Understand the indications for performing ultrasound examinations of the

abdomen, thorax, heart, and vessels in the horse

2. Differentiate between normal and abnormal findings that may be identified in

ultrasound exams

3. Discuss clinically significant findings that may be encountered in ultrasound exams,

and when referral should be recommended

4. Perform ultrasound examinations on live horses to identify and describe structures,

and interpret findings

About the instructor:

Dr. Sarah Humphreys is a large animal internal medicine specialist with a passion for teaching both veterinarians and veterinary students. Following veterinary school, she trained at UC Davis, University of Pennsylvania, and Oregon State University under some of the best equine internists and ultrasonographers. She spends her time developing new CE for veterinarians, helping veterinarians with tough internal medicine cases either in-person or virtually, and teaching veterinary students anywhere from Canada to the Caribbean on a locum basis.

Clinic is open for 16 participants - However, if there is more interest, we will open an overflow date on Sunday, February 8th. Please reach out to Cascadia Equine Veterinary Clinic at 541-207-8308 with any questions or overflow inquiries.
