HISTORY

Over the past nearly 1000 years it has passed through many hands. Buildings have been added and demolished along the years gaining a lot of interesting history. 
The first people to reside here in the 11th Century were Palli and Thurgpt who were mentioned in the Domesday Book. 
Over the next few hundred years people who resided here ranged from Hugh. De Grandmesnil who fought in the Battle of Hastings to John Peel who was a cousin of Sir Robert Peel. 
The last family were John Averill and his family in 1924. 

Middleton Hall had begun its restoration back in 1980 when a group of volunteers founded the Middleton Hall Trust. They are have work very hard to restore and rebuild the hall back to its former glory. 

REPORTED ACTIVITY

Staff and visitors alike have reported on the spirit of the Grey Lady who has been seen on many occasions. 
Other reports are doors slamming, cold spots, voices heard from empty rooms.
