The Sweet Alternative – 10th Anniversary Special
The Cake & Cordial Sessions is Tamworth Country Music Festival’s sweetest little secret. A mini-festival within the festival celebrating the tastiest voices in Alt-Country, Folk and Americana songwriting.
First served up in a humble church hall back in 2016 (with a makeshift stage, a dry bar, but a very persuasive slice of cake and a glass of Cottees), this sugar-coated showcase was created to lure music lovers across the river with harmonies as sweet as sponge and storytelling richer than ganache.
What began as a grassroots gathering of troubadours and tarts has since risen like a well-baked sponge, touring from Tamworth to Winton, Bundaberg to Brisbane. In 2026 it returns for a 10-year celebration of songwriting with a twist.
Expect a line-up of rich lyrics, sticky melodies, and soul-stirring sets from some of the finest songwriters around. It’s all served up in warm, welcoming spaces that are mostly alcohol-free, though these days we’re a little less strict and a little more spiked (we are grown ups now!).
Whether you’re a sucker for a good chorus or you’re here for the free slice, Megan Cooper’s "Cake & Cordial Sessions" is one of the most moreish gigs in town.
