Yoga & Writing Retreat: Ignite Your Creative Spark

Yoga & Writing Retreat: Ignite Your Creative Spark

Writing is a path to understand yourself and the world around you. It is an opportunity to explore, uncover, and move inward. Stories are powerful, and they shape your perceptions.

When you take the time in a supportive, inspired space, you can more deeply examine the stories you tell yourself, re-write old narratives that don’t serve you anymore, and use language to empower yourself.

You are a creative being, but how often do you give yourself the time and inspiration to nourish your creativity?

Treat yourself to an uplifting and relaxing weekend at The Lotus Pond with Melissa Carroll, a yoga teacher, writer, and editor of the acclaimed book Going OM: Real-Life Stories on and off the Yoga Mat.

You will enjoy daily yoga classes, creative writing sessions to unlock your inspiration, and time for writing and reflection. Whether you are looking to start a blog, are a published author, or simply want to journal, Melissa can help you discover your voice and make your writing come to life.

3:30PM-5:45 PM Writing the Body
with Ira Sukrungruang & Melissa Carroll
We all have stories about our bodies: “I hate my (fill in the blank). My (blank) is weak. I can’t wear that because (blank).” Often, we inhabit our bodies as framed in the negative, such as illness, pain, or perceived ugliness. But there’s a great thing about stories — they can be re-written. This empowering, dynamic workshop will inspire you with the language to re-frame, re-story, and rewrite your relationship with your own body through mindfulness, creative writing prompts, and reflection. Dive deep, write your heart out, and heal your relationship with yourself.

Saturday, Feb 3rd

Sunday, Feb 4th
9:30AM-12PM: Yoga & Writing to Awaken Your True Self
This morning’s all-levels yoga practice will infuse mindfulness, breathing exercises, and writing prompts to peel back the layers and connect to your own true source of being. When we drop away our attachments, achievements, and all the images the ego loves to cling to, what is left? In this session, we will use writing as a tool for self-discovery.

Sunday, Feb 4th
1:00pm-3:00pm: Mindful Writing Workshop! Get Feedback
One of the most valuable ways to improve your writing is through constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Bring in 1-2 pages of something you’ve written previously or over this weekend. Poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction (including blogs, personal stories, etc) are all welcome. We'll center our group with meditation, and respond to one another’s words with compassion. Learn how your words land with an audience, what your strengths are, and where and how you can strengthen your writing. Specifics on this assignment will be provided in advance.
