About this Event

Valdes Auditorium, 2nd Floor at Tampa General Hospital

Doors open at 3:00pm

Tampa General Hospital (TGH), a leading academic health system and the first hospital in Florida to join Attorney General's 100 Percent Club, will host a Human Trafficking Awareness Symposium aimed at equipping healthcare professionals and community leaders with the tools to identify, respond to, and prevent human trafficking.

The symposium will bring together experts in law enforcement, victim advocacy, and healthcare to include: Hillsborough County Sheriff, Chad Chronister; Kim Figueroa, Law Enforcement Expert and Victim Advocate; Connie A. Rose M.S. Ad. Ed., Founder & President, Victims2Survivors-US, Chair of the Hillsborough County Commission on Human Trafficking, and Lived-Experience Advocate; Corporal Alan Wilkett, Retired Former Law Enforcement and Advocate for Legislative Change; Tony Venezia, Vice President of Public Safety Tampa General Hospital/FHSC; and Tami Kent, Co-Founder and Executive Director of The No More Foundation. Together they will share strategies, case studies, and resources for combating this pervasive crime. Local anti-human trafficking partner organizations will also be present to give attendees the opportunity to learn more about the many different ways that they can get involved in anti-human trafficking work in the Tampa Bay Area through education, prevention, intervention, and restorative efforts.

According to the U.S. Department of State, an estimated 27.6 million people worldwide are victims of human trafficking at any given time, and Florida ranks among the top states for reported cases. Human trafficking is an issue close to home and everyone has a part to play in combating this issue and protecting our community.
