Jazz in the Garden with The Fil Pate Jazz Duo

Jazz in the Garden returns with a "New" Jazz Duo.

Fil Pate brings his blend of Straight Ahead Jazz to the stage! While playing Electric Guitar, he captures the essence of horns, voices and pianos as he weaves his way through his favorite standards from the great American Song Book, plus many contemporary pieces written by his heroes of Jazz! Fil has dedicated himself to the study and performance of Jazz in Tampa Bay since 2008 and has been fortunate to study privately with Berklee School of Music Professor Bobby Lee Rodgers, along with taking lessons from local USF Jazz Professors Larue Nickolson and Simon Lasky. Currently Fil, studies Jazz and Fusion Guitar with Berklee graduate Dani Rabin and continues to make connections daily!

Fil has also been able to attend Jazz Guitar Masterclasses and week long Workshops such as the Alternative Guitar Summit in upstate New York and Blues Week in rural Virginia.

Fil also has taken 2 extensive online Masterclasses and spent lots of time with modern Jazz guitarist, pianist and composer Kurt Rosenwinkel while at the Alternative Guitar Summit of 2023. Studying Modern ways to play these vintage songs while always paying true homage to the original is the goal of a lifetime! Come hear Fil Explore that path.
