From Research to Reality: Tech Transfer Hackathon 🚀 | March 21
Join a high-energy 5-hour hackathon and training event where science meets entrepreneurship.
This hands-on event brings together students, researchers, and startup-minded mentors to explore how discoveries from Estonian research can become real-world products and services – and maybe even the next unicorn.
What is it about? 🔬➡️💡
Participants will be introduced to cutting-edge research solutions and patents developed in Estonia, as well as to real-life problems that still remain unsolved. Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants will:
● Explore promising scientific discoveries
● Identify real-world applications
● Develop a concrete action plan to turn research into a product or service
● Pitch their solution to a jury at the end of the day
The winning team will be awarded for the most innovative and well-thought-out solution 🏆.
Who is it for?
● BSc–PhD students in STEM, IT, and business
● University of Tartu and TalTech research groups
● Doctoral students and early-stage startup teams
Participants from all backgrounds are welcome. Teams will naturally bring together people with diverse skills and perspectives, including life sciences or medicine, IT, and business or economics.

13:00–13:30 – Arrival & registration
13:30–13:45 – Introduction of topics & team formation

14:00–16:20 – Team work on business plans (supported by mentors)

16:40–17:00 – Final preparation
17:00–18:00 – Final pitches, jury evaluation & awards
18:00–19:00 – Networking evening at LIFT99
