- **Event Description**: Alustame sellest aastast uue traditsiooniga tähistada terve aprilli vältel Sõpruse kino sünnipäeva ning selle tarbeks oleme pannud kokku programmi filmidega igast Sõpruse kino eksisteerimise kümnendist ehk aastast 1955 kuni tänapäevani. Seitsmenda filmina on programmis sakslase Florian Henckel von Donnersmarcki "Teiste elud" (2006). Pinev lugu pealtkuulamisest ja naabrite järgi nuhkimisest, mis sobib ideaalselt Sõpruse kinno ja võiks tekitada äratundmist igaühes, kes kunagi meie juures mõnda filmi koos Hollywoodi heliga kannatama on pidanud. 

1984. aasta, Ida-Berliin. Saksa Demokraatliku Vabariigi valitsus kindlustab võimu nuhkides julmalt oma inimeste järel. Selleks on palgal sadu tuhandeid salajasi luureametnikke Stasist (analoog KGB-le) ehk salapolitseist. Üks salakuulajatest, lojaalne Gerd Wiesler (Ulrich Mühe) loodab tõusu karjääriredelil, kui talle pakutakse tööd näitekirjanik Georg Dreymani (Sebastian Koch) ja tema kuulsa abikaasa Christa-Maria Sielandi (Martina Gedeck) pealtkuulajana. Operatsioon on äärmiselt tähtis ja mängus on kõrgemate poliitiliste ringkondade huvid. Mees aga ei oska oodata, et üha sügavamale jälgitavate maailma süvenedes, võib ka agent ise muutuda. Sukeldumine teiste eludesse paneb Wieslerit mõistma, kui kasin on tema enese eksistents ja avab talle vaate elule, millele mees ei suuda vastu panna. Kuid riigi masinavärk, mis on kord hoo sisse saanud, enam ei peatu ja alguse saab ohtlik mäng. 

“Teiste elud” on võitnud tohutu hulga erinevaid auhindu, nende hulgas ka parima võõrkeelse filmi Oscari 2007. aastal ja kolm Euroopa Filmiauhinda (parim film, parim stsenaarium, parim meespeaosa). Seanss toimub koostöös Goethe Instituudiga.

We will be celebrating the birthday of Kino Sõprus in April by screening films from each decade of our cinema's history. The seventh film in the programme is Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck's "The Lives of Others" (2006). This screening is possible thanks to the support of Goethe Institut. 

East Berlin, 1984. Glasnost is still a long way off; the population is under the thumb of the Ministry for State Security (Stasi), the East German secret police. The Stasi is considered one of the most effective intelligence services in the world. The Stasi's goal was to know everything. The successful playwright Georg Dreyman (Sebastian Koch) and his lover, the actress Christa Maria Sieland (Martina Gedeck), are popular intellectual stars in the GDR. But their actions and especially thoughts are not always in line with the ideology of socialist utopia. The Minister of Culture is very interested in Christa-Maria and commissions the Stasi agent Wiesler (Ulrich Mühe) to eavesdrop on the two. As usual, the bureaucratic Wiesler dutifully begins this task. Above their flat, in the attic, he eavesdrops on their lives day and night. But the more he is drawn into their world of thoughts, the more he struggles to maintain his loyalty to the state.
