EKA Arh konverents toimub 10. septembril ja kannab tänavu pealkirja „Jätkub… Seostamata teadmistest ühise mõistmiseni“. Konverents moodustab esimese poole Tallinna Arhitektuuribiennaali TAB kahepäevasest sümpoosionist.

Kuulama ja mõtteid vahetama on oodatud kolleegid ja tudengid kõikidest ülikoolidest, eri valdkondade erialaliitude esindajad, ruumiloomega seotud ettevõtete ja ametite töötajad ning muidugi kogu kultuuripublik, kellele on südamelähedased arhitektuuri, linnaruumi ja ehitatud keskkonna küsimused.

Tänavune EKA Arh konverents keskendub ühele tänapäeva arhitektuuri ja linnaruumi arengu kesksele küsimusele: kuidas edasi liikuda olukorras, kus nullist alustamine ei ole enam mõistlik ega jätkusuutlik lahendus? Kuigi teadmisi kliimamuutuste, ressursipiirangute ja ehitatud keskkonna kohta on rohkelt, osutub nende teadmiste muutmine ühisteks eesmärkideks ja tegudeks sageli keeruliseks. Küsimuse „mis on järgmine uus lahendus?“ asemel keskendub konverents sellele, kuidas märgata olemasolevat potentsiaali ning kõrvaldada takistusi, mis ei lase teadmistel, algatustel ja headel praktikatel kujuneda laiemaks ühiskondlikuks muutuseks.

Rahvusvahelised esinejad ja teadlased käsitlevad kohanemise, taaskasutuse ja ruumiliste muutuste teemasid linna, hoone ja materjali mõõtkavas. Programm toob kokku arhitektuuri, planeerimise, ehitusvaldkonna ja teadustöö vaatenurgad, et arutleda selle üle, kuidas olemasolevad paigad, hooned ja ressursid saavad toetada tähenduslikke muutusi ning kuidas seostamata teadmised võiksid kujuneda ühiseks mõistmiseks, mis suunaks pikaajalist tegutsemist.

The EKA Arh Conference will take place on 10 September and this year is titled “To Be Continued… From Scattered Facts to Shared Concerns”. The conference forms the first half of the Tallinn Architecture Biennale (TAB) two-day symposium.

Colleagues and students, representatives of professional associations across different fields, people working in companies and public institutions involved in spatial development, and, of course, the wider cultural audiences with an interest in architecture, urban space and the built environment are all warmly invited to join us, listen and exchange ideas.

This year’s EKA Arh Conference focuses on one of the central questions facing architecture and urban development today: how do we move forward when starting from scratch is no longer a sensible or sustainable option? While there is an abundance of knowledge about climate change, resource constraints and the built environment, translating that knowledge into shared goals and action often proves difficult. Rather than asking what the next new solution is, the conference focuses on recognising the potential that already exists and on removing the barriers that prevent knowledge, initiatives, and good practices from becoming broader societal change.

International speakers and researchers will address adaptation, reuse and spatial transformation at the scales of the city, the building and the material. The programme brings together perspectives from architecture, planning, construction and research to discuss how existing places, buildings and resources can support meaningful change, and how disconnected knowledge can develop into a shared understanding that guides long-term action.
