Spanning photography, video, textiles and installation, the exhibition is the culmination of more than a decade of artistic research into the border as a geographical, bodily and emotional phenomenon. Born in Narva and living in London, Kapajeva has long explored questions of identity, belonging, memory, migration and language. In “I Am a Border”, personal histories intersect with wider political and social realities, revealing how borders are not only lines on maps but also experiences that shape our bodies, relationships and sense of self.
