Dust off your cases and get ready to drive! Join teacher and fiddler Bebe Blumenthal for a high-energy, collaborative ensemble class designed for adult pickers looking to move beyond solo practice and into the heart of the bluegrass tradition.
In this course, we will focus on learning how to listen, support other players, and lock into the groove. Whether you play fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, dobro, or upright bass, this class will give you the tools to play with confidence and "drive."
What You’ll Learn:
The Art of the Backup: Master the nuances of chopping, strumming, walking bass lines, and tasteful fills.
Arranging for the Band: We’ll work on intros, outros, and transitions to make a song sound like a polished arrangement.
Soloing & Improvisation: Develop your "voice" on your instrument while staying true to the traditional bluegrass vocabulary.
Vocal Harmony: Find your part in two- and three-part harmonies.
Etiquette & Dynamics: Learn when to lean in, when to pull back, and how to communicate without saying a word.
Level: Previous experience on your instrument required. Students should be comfortable with basic chords and tuning their own instruments.
