Approximately 22km total / 5 hours.
5 swim legs (approx. 200m to 800m each) with the option of 2 more (dependent on tide)
All swims can be shortened or skipped and replaced with a run.
Start/Finish at Matiatia Ferry Terminal, the loop runs clockwise, never too far away from the finish should you want to cut it short.
This route is designed for beginner and seasoned swimrun ‘athletes’. A sense of adventure is compulsory.
This is not a race - we are a group of keen ocean swimmers + trail runners on a social adventure, staying together throughout.
Safety is of utmost importance. Every swim and run leg starts as a group, and we look out for each other.
If any portion of the swim is deemed unsafe (due to current, wind or tide), it is replaced with a run to complete the loop.
If overall conditions are forecast to be unsafe, this will be cancelled two days prior.
High tide is 8:22 AM. It is anticipated that the majority of the swims are completed within the first 3 hours.
There are two stops available to purchase hydration (Little Oneroa Takeaways). It is highly advisable to carry a soft flask so you can hydrate during the run and stash away during the swims.
A full list of what to bring will be provided in the lead-up week.
Meet at the Auckland Ferry Terminal for the 8AM ferry to Waiheke.
Bring a bag with a change of clothing - we will leave these in the lockers at the Matiatia Ferry Terminal.
