Dr. Ko-Hua Chen received his M.D. from Taipei Medical University and completed postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School. He also served as an exchange scholar in ophthalmology at Tokyo Medical and Dental University in Japan. He currently serves as Director of the Cornea Division, Department of Ophthalmology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital. His creative work spans modern poetry, song lyrics, columns, essays, and visual and stage arts. He previously served as Editor-in-Chief of Modern Poetry after its revival. His poetry and song lyrics have received numerous national literary awards, earning him a reputation as a prolific award winner. These honors include the China Times Modern Poetry Award, United Daily News Modern Poetry Award, Golden Tripod Award, Wen Hui Award, National Student Literature Award, Sunshine Poetry Award, and the Taipei Literature Award, among others. To date, he has published more than sixty volumes of literary works, many of which have been translated and published in German, English, Japanese, Korean, and French. His audio poetry publication Gazing (2006) features spoken and sung poetry.
