Today, it has become one of the city’s most popular and well-known wildlife destinations, providing a safe refuge for many species. During winter, it’s a key location for migratory birds and Hong Kong warty newts, while summer brings frogs and a great diversity of arthropods.On this night tour, we will explore the lower sections of this vast nature reserve. Look out for frogs near ponds and rivers, moths fluttering through the undergrowth, insects resting on the plantations, and—if we’re lucky—bats gliding across the night sky.Tai Po Kau is also a well-known site for fireflies, which breed from March to November, with breeding peaking between May and August. Dwarf wood scorpions are commonly found here too.
