- **Event Description**: Do you love kayaking, paddleboarding, or walking along Lake Tahoe’s shoreline? Join Keep Tahoe Blue for a free Eyes on the Lake training and learn how you can help protect the lake through citizen science. This event is open to the public, and all ages are welcome.

During this hands-on training, you’ll learn how to:

- Identify Lake Tahoe’s native and invasive aquatic plants
- Submit observations using the Eyes on the Lake Citizen Science Tahoe web app
- Help detect aquatic invasive species before they become established
- Clean, Drain, and Dry your watercraft and recreation gear to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species
- Identify potential harmful algal blooms (HABs)

After the classroom portion, we’ll head to the shoreline to practice surveying and reporting observations.

We’re excited to be joined by our partners from Tahoe Keepers and the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, who will share tips for protecting Lake Tahoe from aquatic invasive species and harmful algal blooms.

What to Bring:

* A smartphone (to submit an Eyes on the Lake survey)
* Hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses
* Shorts and shoes that can get wet while surveying along the shoreline

We’ll Provide:

* Training and instruction
* Waterproof aquatic plant identification guide
* Pencils and paper for notes
* Refreshments

Registration:

Please register in advance using the link below. You’ll receive a confirmation email from no-reply@galaxydigital.com, and final event details will be emailed a few days before the training.

If you do not pre-register, you’ll need to complete a volunteer waiver during check-in.

Volunteers under 18: A volunteer account and guardian email are required to complete the waiver online.

Volunteers under 13: A guardian email is required to create a volunteer account and complete the waiver online.

Whether you’re on the water every weekend or simply love spending time at Lake Tahoe, this training will give you the knowledge and tools to help keep the lake clear, healthy, and blue for generations to come.
