But for some survivors of abuse, simply stepping outside their front door can feel daunting — particularly after experiencing constant fear, isolation, coercive control or stalking. One participant from our previous walking group shared this feedback:“I often keep to myself and don’t really talk to new people, but coming on the walks I've come outside my comfort zone and had some lovely conversations with lovely people.”As we move through nature, we honour the courage it takes to heal, rebuild, and reclaim a sense of safety for survivors of abuse. Every step you take, every penny you raise, will be doubled in effort and in donations for Nour.Every woman and girl deserves the chance to dream freely, achieve proudly and live boldly.You will contribute towards sustaining Nour’s vital services for minoritised survivors of abuse, which include:Counselling: To improve women’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. We provide up to 22 sessions of trauma-informed counselling (50mins, weekly). All therapists are from minoritised communities and are trained in working with survivors of abuse and trauma.Support & Advocacy: To improve women’s confidence through advocacy. Case workers provide 1:1 emotional & practical support, helping women to access Nour &/or external services. Staff maintain regular contact with clients who are at the greatest risk (e.g. no support network or who remain in abusive relationships).Legal Advice and Spiritual Advocacy: To improve women’s safety and access to justice. We offer legal advice via a qualified solicitor (expert in family law and in supporting domestic abuse survivors from minoritised communities). Legal advice is related to safety such as injunctions and non-molestation orders. Spiritual advocacy is offered by faith leaders helping survivors understand that abuse is not sanctioned by faith.Financial Assistance: To reduce women’s financial hardship. We support survivors to access hardship grants and provide ‘essential items hampers’. Other support varies based on individual needs; from setting up bank accounts to accessing statements, with emotional support throughout the processAwareness-raising Workshops and Webinars: To increase awareness of abuse. We run community, school-based and online workshops on understanding different forms of abuse, impacts of abuse, healthy relationships and mental health. We also provide specialist workshops on trauma-informed care and on working with minoritised communitiesYour fundraising could help someone find a way forward when life feels unbearable. It could contribute towards helping a survivor move away from thoughts of suicide, rebuild their confidence and self-worth, and find ways to cope with overwhelming anxiety, depression, fear or grief.You will become an ambassador for survivors of abuse in this period, advocating to the people you know to donate towards Nour’s fundraising efforts. We will support you with all the information you need to help you reach your target.Ticket Price & Fundraising targets:Book your place on the coach, £20 participation fee, or select a £15 ticket if no coach seat ir required and set yourself a fundraising target. Choose from the fundraising targets below and join dozens of women as we hike together and fundraise for Nour (if you do not require a coach seat, see Q&A section below).£100 - Healing Helper - can contribute towards Nour’s advocacy sessions, helping a woman leaving abuse find the right services to escape.£200 - Supportive Sisterhood – contributes towards Nour’s legal and spiritual advice, guiding a person who does not know their rights to access a safe home, seek protection from harassment or understand their abuse is not sanctioned by faith.£500 - Life Changer – offer a lifeline to someone on the verge of giving up. Allow Nour’s counselling team to support clients who have suicidal thoughts and cannot find a way to escape the memories of the torment they endured. Help us heal them through the lifeline of therapy.£1,000 – A Beacon of Light – Stand tall as a shining light, helping Nour reach more survivors in need who have never accessed help, who remain in violent homes, terrified and terrorised. Help us increase our reach to educate our communities through workshops and webinars delivered to hundreds of participants a year, let us increase awareness that violence and abuse is not acceptable in any community or sanctioned by any faith and that there is a way out and it was never their fault.If you have never fundraised before, don't worry; we will support you with information and guidance to help you. You will have time to reach your target. The campaign will take place between 6th October - 13th October when donations will be accepted, but your fundraising efforts start now, as you sign up and begin asking friends and family to sponsor your hike.
