Learn how to create textured collagraph plates that can be used for printing directly on paper or combined with gel plate printmaking. Collagraphy is a technique where textured materials like acrylic, paper, fabric, and found objects are glued to a rigid surface to create a printing plate. The resulting textured plate is then 'inked', and the design is transferred to paper, creating a collagraph print. Printmaking is an excellent way to create your own supply of papers for collage, book arts, cards or art that can stand on its own.
I will share samples, demonstrate the process, answer questions and work with artists individually during the workshop. Each artist will create samples to take home, which will serve as a valuable reference for future projects. A class summary will also be provided afterwards so that artists can continue their exploration independently.
All materials provided however you are welcome to bring any papers you'd like to experiment with. Bring box lid or tray to transport wet art afterwards.
Artists of all levels are welcome. Dress for mess!
Note: Upstairs classroom, no elevator available.
