Explorer families are invited to a fun and educational private tour of the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
During this early morning experience, Explorers will have the zoo to themselves as they visit selected areas before the zoo opens for the day. They’ll be accompanied by knowledgeable guides and get a chance to say good morning to some of the animals. This unique experience includes a special animal encounter at the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater.
Explorers staff and teachers will provide activities and support throughout the tour. After the tour, families can spend the rest of the day exploring the zoo on their own.
In addition to the Wild Zoo Tour experience, Explorers and their families will:
• Build relationships with others as well as with nature and the animals around them.
• Increase their physical connection to their body and their surroundings by touching, seeing, hearing, and moving around.
• Share the sounds that they hear and have conversations to practice communication.
• Focus on one of senses at a time (hearing, smell, touch) to help improve self-regulation skills.
Explorers staff and teachers will provide activities and support throughout the tour. After the tour, families can spend the rest of the day exploring the zoo on their own.
