Total Lunar Eclipse

Total Lunar Eclipse - aka 'Blood Moon' event will take place on Tuesday night March 3, 2026.

Eclipse begins at 8pm - Earth's shadow (Umbra) touches the Moon's eastern limb and slowly moves across the Lunar surface until the Moon is 100% inside the Umbra.

Totality begins (start of the Blood Moon) at 9.04pm and ends at 10.02pm and its all over by by 11.25pm.

Total eclipse time = 3.5 hours.

Kingaroy Observatory will be holding a special night for this event beginning at 7:o0pm and finish at 11:30pm.

On this night, you'll get to view not only the TLE but lots of interesting Stellar objects like Star Clusters, Nebulae and Galaxies, and JUPITER with its coloured bands of gas and its 4 bright Moons, all up close in our large telescopes and in COLOUR !! thanks to our new Smarteye eyepiece that not only shows everything you see in the telescope in colour, we can send that view as a 9 meg pixel image directly to your Smartphone (for a small cost)

We'll also have a Smartphone adapter that allows one to rake close up shots of the Planets and the Moon directly from the telescope. Again for a small cost.
