O czym śniły artystki i jakie narzędzia stosowały w latach 80., by urzeczywistnić swoje pragnienia? Podczas wykładu przyjrzymy się strategiom oporu twórczyń działających w Polsce i Niemczech Wschodnich poza oficjalnym obiegiem sztuki. Odrzucając tradycyjne formy sztuki oraz socjalistyczne wartości, sięgały po nowe media — fotografię, film, grafikę czy ziny.

Punktem wyjścia do spotkania będzie przestrzeń wystawy „𝐒𝐧𝐲 𝐊𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐭 / 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚̈𝐮𝐦𝐞”, pomyślanej jako wyobrażone spotkanie artystek, które w latach 80. nie miały szansy się poznać. Mimo to ich emancypacyjne gesty tworzą szeroki wachlarz narzędzi buntu — wobec narzucanych kobietom ról, obowiązujących norm i ograniczeń obecnych także w świecie sztuki.

𝐖𝐲𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐨𝐝𝐛𝐞̨𝐝𝐳𝐢𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐞̨ 𝐰 𝐣𝐞̨𝐳𝐲𝐤𝐮 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐦 𝐳 𝐭ł𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐦 𝐧𝐚 𝐣𝐞̨𝐳𝐲𝐤 𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐢.

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚 — absolwentka historii sztuki na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim, kuratorka, wykładowczyni Instytutu Sztuk Wizualnych Uniwersytetu Zielonogórskiego. Od 2011 roku prezeska Fundacji Salony, w latach 2016–2021 dyrektorka Miejskiego Ośrodka Sztuki w Gorzowie Wielkopolskim, stypendystka MKiDN w 2024 roku. W swojej praktyce kuratorskiej zajmuje się relacjami sztuki z historią i przestrzenią publiczną. Kuratorowała liczne wystawy indywidualne i zbiorowe w Polsce i za granicą.

Wovon träumten Künstlerinnen in den 1980er-Jahren, und wie setzten sie ihre Träume um? In diesem Vortrag schauen wir uns die Widerstandsstrategien von Künstlerinnen an, die in Polen und Ostdeutschland außerhalb des offiziellen Kunstbetriebs tätig waren. Sie lehnten traditionelle Kunstformen und sozialistische Werte ab und griffen stattdessen auf neue Medien zurück – Fotografie, Film, Grafik oder Zines.

Den Ausgangspunkt bildet die Ausstellung  „𝐒𝐧𝐲 𝐊𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐭 / 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚̈𝐮𝐦𝐞”, die als imaginäre Begegnung von Künstlerinnen konzipiert ist, die in den 1980er-Jahren keine Gelegenheit hatten, sich kennenzulernen. Dennoch bilden ihre emanzipatorischen Gesten ein breites Spektrum an Mitteln des Widerstands gegen weibliche Rollenbilder, die gesellschaftlich auferlegt wurden, sowie gegen Normen und Einschränkungen, die auch die Kunstwelt prägten

𝐃𝐢𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐔̈𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐳𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐭.

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚 – Absolventin der Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Warschau, Kuratorin und Dozentin am Institut für Bildende Kunst der Universität Zielona Góra. Seit 2011 ist sie Vorsitzende der Stiftung Salony, von 2016 bis 2021 war sie Direktorin des Städtischen Kunstzentrums in Gorzów Wielkopolski. 2024 erhielt sie ein Stipendium des Ministeriums für Kultur und Nationales Erbe. In ihrer kuratorischen Praxis beschäftigt sie sich mit den Beziehungen zwischen Kunst, Geschichte und öffentlichem Raum. Sie hat zahlreiche Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen in Polen und im Ausland kuratiert.

What did women artists dream of, and what tools did they use in the 1980s to turn those dreams into reality? In this lecture, we will explore the strategies of resistance developed by women artists working outside the official art circuit in Poland and East Germany. Rejecting traditional art forms and socialist values, they embraced new media such as photography, film, graphic art, and zines.

The exhibition 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 / 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚̈𝐮𝐦𝐞 serves as the starting point for this meeting. It has been conceived as an imagined encounter between artists who, in the 1980s, had no opportunity to meet. Yet their emancipatory gestures reveal a wide range of rebellious tools — directed against the roles imposed on women, prevailing social norms, and the limitations present within the art world itself.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚 is an art historian, curator, and lecturer at the Institute of Visual Arts at the University of Zielona Góra. A graduate of the University of Warsaw, she has served as President of the Salony Foundation since 2011. From 2016 to 2021, she was Director of the Municipal Centre for Art in Gorzów Wielkopolski, and in 2024 she was awarded a scholarship by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Her curatorial practice focuses on the relationships between art, history, and public space. She has curated numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally.
