Date: July 19th, 2025 from 9am - 12pm
Instructor: Jules Webster
Price: $50.00
Join Jules Webster for a fun and informative workshop that will introduce students to the basics of painting on-site in a garden. In this workshop, Jules will explain and demonstrate how to select a site, draw a basic landscape sketch, and paint and draw in basic garden details using watercolor and colored pencil on paper. Students will leave this course with a "loose" garden painting on paper, a small "value sketch," knowledge of how to use watercolor and colored pencil, basic art composition, color theory, instructor made hand-outs, and the skills and courage to try again on their own. We'll also discuss how to select and pack portable art materials to take "on the go." All materials will be provided by the instructor. A portion of tuition will be donated back to support Wood County Parks.
Students should be prepared to be outside for 3 hours. Pre-applied sunscreen, a sun hat, appropriate clothing, water bottle, peanut-free snack, and any other materials required by participants to be comfortable outdoors are suggested. Please let us know no less than 7 days in advance if there is anything we can do to accommodate your full participation in this course.
Workshop Location: Location: W.W. Knight Preserve Sensory Garden, Wood County Park District, 29530 White Rd, Perrysburg, OH 43551. Click here for a map of the Preserve:

In case of light rain, the workshop will continue and move inside. If the forecast calls for very heavy storms, the workshop will be moved to the following Saturday, on July 26 from 9 - noon. Participants will receive a text message 48 hours in advance if the forecast calls for bad storms to confirm the class has moved. Please provide your mobile cell phone number when registering.
