- **Event Description**: The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation Athletics Program will hold basketball registration for the 2026 season beginning October 1 through November 30. Boys and girls ages 5–12 are eligible to participate in the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) basketball league and are encouraged to sign up early to avoid missing the registration deadline.

The 6U registration fee is $75, while 8U–12U registration is $85. Parents may register online at Sylacauga.Recdesk.com, by phone at 256.249.8561, or in person at the J. Craig Smith Community Center. Payments may be made by cash, check, or credit card.
The age control date for the 2026 season is September 1, 2025. Whatever age a child is on or before this date will determine their age group for registration. Children who do not turn five years old by September 1 will be eligible to join the 6U league next year.

Volunteer coaches are also needed for all age groups. Coaches may register online, by phone, or at the Community Center. Each coach will receive a complimentary coach’s jersey for the season.
Tryouts will be held on December 2 at the J. Craig Smith Community Center Gymnasium:
8U – 5:00 PM
10U – 6:00 PM
12U – 6:45 PM

The 6U age group will not have tryouts; coaches will draft at 5:00 PM in the Community Center conference room. Practices may begin as early as December 3, though schedules will be set by each coach. League games will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning January 6, 2026, and will extend into early February. All-Star play for 8U–12U teams will follow.

Parents are reminded that the registration deadline is November 30. Once tryouts are complete, jerseys are ordered immediately and no late registrations can be accepted.
