Show Your Style - Bachata x Zouk Edition - Dance Video Shoot
Introduction:
Thank you to everyone who came for the first Show Your Style community video shoot event! Off the back of that, there were enquires regarding the next one and given its popularity, I checked the availability of the venue and 24 May was the only date available (totally booked out after). So here we are! The concept this time is to have a session for Brazilian zouk dancers and then a session for bachata dancers. Given how much bachata (sensual) today takes inspiration from zouk, I think it would be great to see the similarities in the styles and maybe inspire dancers to check out the other style :) In the future, I am planning to have hot new fresh tracks for people to dance to!
Have you ever wanted a professionally taken video of you dancing to a great bachata or zouk song in a nice and grand setting? A video that you can:
- be proud to show all your friends, family and loved ones
- keep as a video momento of your "dancing days"
- use as a progress marker video to see how far you've come on your dance journey
- use as promotional material for your dance career or aspirations
What's happening:
- A dance video shoot held at City of Sydney Creative Studios, a beautiful hall where I have filmed awesome dance videos in the past (see a previous SYS bachata video here:
).
- Dancers will have one opportunity/run to dance an improvised (or choreographed) partnered bachata or zouk to the song (you only chooose one of the following):
1) "Drama" by Kewin Cosmos, bachata version

2) "Drama" by Kewin Cosmos, zouk RNB Latin version
?si=_KxoEaVWNrKg2lW3
3) "Evidencias" by Kewin Cosmos, cut bachata version
4) "Evidencias" by Kewin Cosmos, cut zouk version by local Sydney DJ, DJ Alexy, who has been a long time DJ, promoter and supporter in the zouk scene
- The dance will be filmed by me! The style of filming will be like what you have seen in professionals' demos and the previous SYS videos ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuMhQRzF5vvTLc1sHHXsXTTWNrhSAasKe).
- Dancers will have the opportunity to warm up to the song before we begin filming each couple separately. It will be like Jack & Jill finals, except each couple will get to dance the whole song one after the next.
Who's it for:
- If you're someone who has danced for a while, practice with a dance partner regularly, already doing Jack & Jill competitions or looking for a new challenge in front of the camera, then this is a great opportunity for you to really show your style!
- If you're a teacher in the scene and need a professional dance video for your portfolio which you can use on social media or send to promoters at festivals, then this is for you!
- Ideally, you should sign up with your dance partner and that is encouraged. If your usual dance partner is already participating with another dancer, he or she can sign up multiple times for multiple runs.
- If you don't have a partner, that's okay. You can sign up and it will be like a Jack & Jill and you will be paired with someone who is also looking for a partner.
What you will receive:
- A 4K quality landscape video of your dance which you can share or use on social media.
- If we have time at the end, we may also take some photos! 😃

Postface:
This event's intention is to create good vibes in both the bachata and zouk community and hopefully result in many fantastic videos which people will share on social media. The goal is to spread the awesomeness of bachata AND zouk, to highlight the similarities in the dances today, raise the profile of each style of dance within the community and encourage people to dance more, get better at dancing, go to more classes or try the style for the first time. The intention is to grow the dance scene and community, spread good vibes and I hope it will have the same effect that many of my other videos have already had.
