Opened by Sunburst Lichen, new composition from the Sydney-based composer Christine Pan, who has had her works performed across Australia, the United States and Europe, we then feature award-winning Australian pianist Alex Zhang's masterful interpretation of the Grieg Piano Concerto, which has delighted audiences for decades with from its recognisable dramatic opening bars through to the virtuosic finale.

The evening will culminate with Shostakovich's 5th Symphony, a powerful and defiant masterpiece that stands today as one of his finest works.
