1. Listen Out

Hosted by Fuzzy the festival focuses on hip-hop, indie and electronic music drawing big crowds across its three stages: Atari, 909, and Third Base. Listen Out Sydney is a popular Australian music festival held annually in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane since 2013. In 2016 it attracted over 68,000 attendees and in 2018 an alternative version called Listen In was introduced in South Australia and New Zealand. The festival also gives a platform to emerging talent with winners of the Triple J Unearthed competition performing at their local shows.


2. Sculpture by the Sea

This free festival transforms the 2-kilometer coastal walk into an open-air gallery! Showcasing over 100 sculptures from both Australian and international artists in the most coolest way. Sculpture by the Sea is an incredible outdoor art exhibition held in Sydney from October 18 to November 4, 2024. Attracting around 450,000 visitors annually, it offers a unique blend of art and nature, with stunning ocean views enhancing the experience.


3. SXSW Sydney

Held in Tumbalong Park and around Darling Harbour this festival brings together music, film and interactive media in one dynamic festival. SXSW Sydney is set to turn the city into a happening powerhouse in October. With over 1,000 sessions, from panels and meetups to gigs and screenings, there’s something for every creative mind. The music festival will feature 300+ artists both local and international. While the games and screen festivals promise hands-on demos and exclusive premieres.


4. The Other Art Fair

Happening in October at the White Bay Cruise Terminal this festival features 130 independent artists offering diverse artworks from paintings to sculptures starting at just $100. The Other Art Fair in Sydney is your chance to explore and buy original art from talanted artists in a fun. Beyond the art you will find immersive installations, live performances and even a pop-up tattoo parlor. All of this makes this festival a must-visit for anyone looking to explore and collect unique art.


5. Sydney Fringe Festival

This fest is New South Wales' largest independent arts festival featuring over 400 events across 70 venues in Sydney. The Sydney Fringe Festival will be happening in September with a focus on theater, dance, music and visual arts. The festival celebrates local talent with 80% of the artists hailing from New South Wales. Amazing this is it has transitioned to an open-access model. This means allowing anyone to participate by paying a registration fee and supports artists.
