The launch of the inaugural Cape Breton Island International Blues Festival has done more than bring world-class blues to the stage — it’s sparked the creation of a brand-new blues band right here at home.

Introducing BRIGHT BLUE SKIES, the official house band for the After Hours Blues Festival Club at Daniel’s Alehouse and Eatery. Led by renowned bandleader Joe MacLeod, the group features an all-star lineup of Cape Breton musicians: David Burke, Danny Lockwood, Tracey MacKinnon, Bobby Gill, and Curtis Matheson.

The band will be joined by many special guests!

Formed specifically for the festival’s late-night sessions, Bright Blue Skies will anchor the after-hours experience with deep blues grooves, soulful performances, and spontaneous collaborations — joined by special guest artists (TBA) throughout the weekend.

When the main stage winds down, the blues keep rolling. This is where the night turns electric.
