art after hours: 10 december

Every wednesday, the art gallery of nsw stays open later for its 'art after hours' program.

We'll start the evening with drinks at the library bar at the state library, before heading over to the gallery for some late-night culture.

'Ron mueck: encounter' is the gallery's major summer exhibition and the focus of the evening. It's the largest solo exhibition by the artist to have ever been presented in australia, and first in Sydney since 2003. It features his realistic figurative sculptures that explore themes of birth, death, togetherness and alienation. It looks totally weird and amazing.
