This Canadian Multiculturalism Day, we are bringing that mosaic to life, and you’re invited! On June 27th, join us for a big celebration of the rich heritage, shared values, and incredible diversity that makes us who we are. This event is all about fostering connection, learning from one another, and celebrating cultures that enrich our daily lives.

We will have multiple performances from different cultural groups throughout the CBRM, and joining us on the Main Stage is Bia Ferreira. Bia is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and artivist who has distinguished herself as one of the most powerful voices in the contemporary Latin American music scene. Musically, Bia’s work blends elements of soul, blues, reggae, funk, R&B, rap, and references to Brazilian music, dialoguing with Afro-diasporic traditions and languages.

Along with Bia Ferreira, joining forces in an Iona, Cape Breton garage in 2025, WAM-PUM are rockers at heart. This blues-rock outfit especially digs the fuzzy, psychedelic sounds of 1960s and ‘70s rock acts such as Jimi Hendrix and Cream. But the band’s wide musical influences are evident in its performances — from gritty Chicago blues to the smooth, funky vibes of Motown. One could say this band’s sound simply “whomps ‘em.” That’s fun to say, isn’t it? Almost as fun as seeing these guys live.

For rhythms that tell stories, movements that carry history, and voices that unite us, we will also be having cultural performances from China, Vietnam, India, and Africa. We are thrilled to host a vibrant showcase of cultural performances featuring traditional dances, music, and storytelling from communities across the country, plus so much more!

Who doesn’t love a show with an amazing bite to eat? Along with these wonderful performances, we will also have 8 different restaurants on site. Take your taste buds on a tour around the globe, for only $5 per plate, and truly embrace Cape Breton’s melting pot of rich culture.

On top of dinner and a show, we will also be having a cultural fair! Groups will be set up on site to teach participants a cultural activity or craft so you can take some of that culture home with you.
