- **Event Description**: Our scanning and oral history recording days are back!

Do you have a passed down story to share? Do you have photographs of your ancestors in Brazoria County? Site educators will assist you in creating quality scans and recordings of your passed down stories, artifacts, pictures, and more. You will get full scans and recordings to keep for your records! Timeslots must be requested in advance.

During your time slot you can:
- Have your photographs scanned (photographs should relate to family or local history)
- Record an oral history
- Have an artifact photographed

Guests must request a time slot in advance. Request a slot by contacting our staff by calling (979-798-2202) or by using the sign-up form below. Slots are available at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm on each day the program is held. A staff member will confirm your timeslot is available following your request.

Further information:
Staff may ask guests with relevant stories or objects if they would like to be included in our Descendants Project. In 2020, Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site received a grant from the 400 Years of African American History Commission in Washington, DC for a year-long project to create a digital repository of photographs, letters, recipes, diaries and more to document African American history in Brazoria County. 

For the over past 4 years, community donors have brought materials to be documented, scanned and returned to them on-site. The Descendants Project will continue to welcome donors by appointment to ensure that we are able to process materials effectively.
