How do we truly experience a culture? Is it through sight, sound, scent, or movement?  Artist Sahar Saki invites audiences across South and West Wales to explore Persian heritage in a fully immersive way – where poetry is not just read but walked through, music is felt as well as heard, and art is something to step inside.

#PersianTour is an evolving, multi-sensory exhibition transforming galleries into spaces that embody Iranian culture. Each venue becomes a “mini Iran” in which Persian poetry, calligraphy, music, dance, and even scent create an environment that invites audiences to engage with the culture beyond the visual.

The tour will visit:

Llantarnam Grange, Cwmbran (1 March – 17 May)
Elysium Gallery, Swansea (4 April – 17 May)
Span Arts Centre, Narberth (15 July – 15 August)
Future Arts Collective Cymru (FACC), Cardiff (September – mid-October)
Each gallery will be transformed into a living artwork, with Saki painting Persian poetry directly onto the walls in large-scale calligraphy. The exhibition incorporates contemporary Iranian poetry, live dance performances, Persian music, and interactive workshops, allowing visitors to engage in Persian calligraphy and traditional pattern design. The scent of rosewater will also fill the space, ensuring that audiences experience Persian culture through all their senses.

At the heart of #PersianTour sits collaboration and cultural exchange. The project features the work of five contemporary Iranian poets and artists, alongside performances by two dancers and contributions from three artistic mentors. A multilingual catalogue with Persian poetry translated into Welsh and English will accompany the exhibition, bridging cultures and languages.

Saki’s work is rooted in reimagining spaces: creating environments where art transforms the familiar into something new, where audiences are transported elsewhere, and where different cultures can meet and connect. Her past projects, including Persian Murals (2021) and Off the Wall (2022), have captivated audiences with their innovative approach to Persian heritage and contemporary art. #PersianTour builds on this foundation, offering Welsh audiences a deeper, more immersive encounter with Iranian culture.

Mae’r artist Sahar Saki yn gwahodd cynulleidfaoedd ar draws De a Gorllewin Cymru i archwilio treftadaeth Persiaidd mewn ffordd gwbl ymdrwythol – lle mae barddoniaeth nid yn unig yn cael ei darllen ond yn cael ei cherdded drwodd, mae cerddoriaeth yn cael ei theimlo cystal â’i chlywed, a chelf yn rhywbeth i gamu i mewn. 

Mae #PersianTour #TaithPersia yn arddangosfa esblygol, amlsynhwyraidd sy’n trawsnewid orielau yn ofodau sy’n ymgorffori diwylliant Iran. Mae pob lleoliad yn dod yn “Iran fach” lle mae barddoniaeth, caligraffeg, cerddoriaeth a dawns Persiaidd, a hyd yn oed arogl, yn creu amgylchedd sy’n gwahodd cynulleidfaoedd i ymgysylltu â’r diwylliant y tu hwnt i’r gweledol.

Bydd pob oriel yn cael ei thrawsnewid yn waith celf byw, gyda Saki yn peintio barddoniaeth Berseg yn syth ar y waliau mewn caligraffeg ar raddfa fawr. Mae’r arddangosfa’n ymgorffori barddoniaeth gyfoes o Iran, perfformiadau dawns byw, cerddoriaeth Bersaidd, a gweithdai rhyngweithiol, sy’n caniatáu i ymwelwyr ymwneud â chaligraffeg Bersaidd a dylunio patrymau traddodiadol. Bydd arogl dŵr rhosod hefyd yn llenwi’r gofod, gan sicrhau bod cynulleidfaoedd yn profi diwylliant Persia trwy eu holl synhwyrau. 

Wrth galon #PersianTour #TaithPersia mae cydweithio a chyfnewid diwylliannol. Mae’r prosiect yn cynnwys gwaith pum bardd ac artist cyfoes o Iran, ynghyd â pherfformiadau gan ddau ddawnsiwr a chyfraniadau gan dri mentor artistig. Bydd catalog amlieithog gyda barddoniaeth Berseg wedi’i chyfieithu i’r Gymraeg a’r Saesneg yn cyd-fynd â’r arddangosfa, gan bontio diwylliannau ac ieithoedd. 

Mae gwaith Saki wedi’i wreiddio mewn ail-ddychmygu gofodau: creu amgylcheddau lle mae celf yn trawsnewid y cyfarwydd yn rhywbeth newydd, lle mae cynulleidfaoedd yn cael eu cludo i fannau eraill, a lle gall gwahanol ddiwylliannau gwrdd a chysylltu.
