ADNABOD: MA Contemporary Dialogues 2025 Opening Night

Like many Welsh words, ADNABOD has no literal translation into English, but enigmatically conveys the concept of either ‘knowing, recognising or identifying’. The 2025 MA Contemporary Dialogues exhibition brings together works that equally enigmatically explore these ideas through themes of cultural identity, memory, female representation and mental health, some of the unseen forces that shape our lives. Together the works reveal different ways of knowing, of seeing oneself, one another, and the world we inhabit.

Fel llawer o eiriau Cymraeg, nid oes gan ADNABOD gyfieithiad uniongyrchol i’r Saesneg, ond mae’n cyfleu’n enigmatig y syniad o ‘wybod, adnabod neu hunaniaethu’. Mae arddangosfa MA Deialogau Cyfoes 2025 yn dod â gweithiau ynghyd sy’n archwilio’r syniadau hyn mewn ffyrdd cynnil ac ysgogol, drwy themâu fel hunaniaeth ddiwylliannol, cof, cynrychiolaeth benywaidd ac iechyd meddwl – rhai o’r grymoedd anweledig sy’n siapio ein bywydau. Gyda’i gilydd, mae’r gweithiau’n datgelu ffyrdd amrywiol o wybod, o weld eich hun, ei gilydd, a’r byd yr ydym yn byw ynddo.
