Discover the magic of blue printing on fabric. Make a patch for ‘Sorry State’ banner. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a ‘blue print’. A mix of light-sensitive chemicals with objects or photo ‘transparencies’ create the print. Cyanotype was pioneered by Anna Atkins in 1840 for documenting botanic forms. Today, cyanotype is used as a creative printing process by artists and photographers. Menna will guide the group in how it can be used with Textiles. We’ll be making patches for a group banner-quilt!Please bring a large empty water bottle or plastic jug if possible.More about “A Sorry State”“How would you describe your current relationship with the welfare system? If you could redesign the welfare system, what would it look like?"These are some of the questions asked by artists Jack Moyse & Menna Buss. Jack, with lived experience of disability - photography and installation and Menna, arts in health Textiles facilitator join 9to90 for creative explorations.“We aim to create safe, accessible spaces for people to reflect on and share their experiences of the welfare system and encourage participants to share thoughts creatively without fear of judgement. Through talking and making, the workshops encourage collective expression and peer connection. Participants’ contributions will inform the development of a new artwork, ensuring their voices sit at the centre of the project. The sessions prioritise care, dignity, and consent throughout.
