Hosted by GS Artists, at 217 High Street, Swansea SA1 1PEWe would like to invite you to join our 9to 90 Art Club members &amp; volunteers.Over the next few months we will be joined by Artists Menna Buss and Jack Moyse, sharing an incredible opportunity, both for workshops and a final exhibition at GS Artists.Entitled ‘Sorry State” we hope that you will join the pair for all their sessions over the next few months and they will share this timetable with you.In this first session on January 23rd, Introduction to ‘Sorry State’ banner/quilt making project. Jack &amp; Menna will share examples of work, explaining the project as we aim to make a big community textiles piece! Menna will guide you through pinwheel patchwork inspired by Welsh blankets. We’ll be chatting about Welfare State, disability and community.They say of the project-“How would you describe your current relationship with the welfare system? Do you think there’s a difference between how you see yourself and how the system sees you? If you could redesign the welfare system, what would it look like?"These are some of the questions asked by artists Jack Moyse &amp; Menna Buss. Jack, with lived experience of disability - photography and installation and Menna, arts in health Textiles facilitator join 9to90 for creative explorations.“We aim to create safe, accessible spaces for people to reflect on and share their experiences of the welfare system and encourage participants to share thoughts creatively without fear of judgement. Through talking and making, the workshops encourage collective expression and peer connection. Participants’ contributions will inform the development of a new artwork, ensuring their voices sit at the centre of the project. The sessions prioritise care, dignity, and consent throughout.                 "description": "The 9to90 Creative Community is a project especially for those that wouldn’t normally visit a gallery. Devised by GS Artists Swnsea, it is their dedicated community engagement project for creative’s especialy those that don't know they are creative.\nWe offer an art service- workshops that are open to all, for exploration, conversation, and creation.  \nThe free events offer opportunities to create works and explore new creative challenges. During the pandemic we took all the workshops online, and moving forward will always offer this hybrid option for those unable to join us in person, and can offer art materials on request. \nOver the last 5 years with our community we have created  an open submission, free to enter competition and exhibition with 3 age groups and numerous categories and prizes; Painting, Drawing, Craft, Prose and Poetry, Photography, and a very special ‘Paint a Portrait Category’  To date Sir Peter Blake, Michael Sheen and Rob Brydon and Catherine Zeta Jones have been immortalised in numerous materials. All the works entered are exhibited, adopting professional standards. \nWe are currently developing weekly drop in art classes, extending our art service to all year round "
