We have been wanting Kathryn Williams to play the Sound Lounge for some time and we know that Kathryn has also longed to play here. Finally the planets, and our calendars, have aligned and we are thrilled that Kathryn will be at The Sound Lounge on Saturday February 28th for a very special show!

Kathryn Williams is a British, Mercury music prize-nominated singer-songwriter. With 17 albums under her belt in the last 27 years, she has become a much respected, revered and in-demand singer songwriter. Her last solo album, Night Drives debuted at no.2 in the official folk album charts, while her last album, a collaboration with Withered Hand titled Willson Williams was nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year and UK Americana Music Association Album of the Year awards. 

In 2019, her record label, One Little Independent, celebrated her career (thus far) with a 20-CD and 2-book box set, Anthology, strewn with her artwork and rare tracks.

Her debut novel The Ormering Tide was published in 2021 to critical acclaim, and her own podcast, Before The Light Goes Out, appeared in the Top Ten best music podcasts by the Guardian. Kathryn tutors at the Arvon and Moniack Mhor Foundations and has collaborated with a multitude of diverse artists around the world including Paul Weller, Chris Difford, Ed Harcourt, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Michele Stodart. She is the only female included in the Top Ten list of Greatest Liverpool songwriters of all time.

Her current album, Mystery Park was released in September 2025 and will be showcased on this tour. 

Kathryn will be accompanied by Ben Fitzgerald. 

Tonight's opening artist is Memphis Gerald. 

Anywhere there's an ache is comfortable territory for Memphis Gerald's deft flatpicking and wry burr. Born and raised in Scotland, adrift in genre and sensibility, Memphis weaves traditional folk guitar styles into his love of storytelling and songwriting. As the listener immerses themselves in Memphis's wandering ballads, they discover a tender insight into the life of a small town, working lad, his family, relationships and upbringing. 

As a folk musician, Memphis also presents traditional songs, reworking arrangements to reveal forgotten sentiments and connect past with present. Gifted with melancholy, his self-penned numbers can subvert emotions, invite audiences to read between the lines, and find humour in life's hardships. 
Introverted yet relatable, Memphis Gerald is hard to place, somewhere between Dick Gaughan and Scott Hutchinson, where he plucks at the heartstrings.

Memphis Gerald has stepped in to cover for Matt Deighton who was originally scheduled to open for Kathryn but has been forced to pull out owing to illness.
