- **Event Description**: Come explore nature in winter by snowshoe at High Point State Park.About this EventIt's been a few years since we've had good snow for snowshoeing, but we do now! And deep snow gives us the opportunity to explore a bit off the beaten path. Join us this weekend to explore High Point on snowshoes.You can bring your own snowshoes, rent a pair for the day from the High Point Cross Country Ski Center (www.xcskihighpoint.com), or borrow a pair from us for the duration of the hike for $10 a pair. (We have a limited number of adult shoes that will be available on a first reserved/first served basis.)This walk will be somewhat strenuous covering 1.5 to 2 miles, and is suitable for adults and teens. Warm winter clothes are a must, and you may also want drinking water. Both winter boots and insulated hiking boots work well with snowshoes - you don't need special footwear.We will meet initially at the High Point State Park Office, located on Route 23 across from the main entrance to the park. From there, we will travel a short distance to the hike location.If you need to borrow snowshoes, please select the appropriate ticket, and watch your email for further details. If there are no "borrow snowshoe" tickets available, then they have already been reserved. You can email highpointprograms@dep.nj.gov and request to be put on a waiting list.This hike will count if you are participating in the NJ State Parks Celebrate 250 Challenge!
