Remembering Dikshitar is a tribute to Muthuswami Dikshitar, one of the most revered and foundational composers in the Carnatic tradition. This marks Remembering Dikshitar's second iteration, following its inaugural presentation as a virtual event held from November 8–13, 2021.
The program features three specially curated recitals by local artists from the Carnatic and Hindustani music communities. The evening will open with a short Bharatanatyam recital by Vaishali Koushik of Layaa Rhythmic Arts. This will be followed by a Carnatic women’s vocal ensemble featuring Chetana Kaushik, Sharvari Somayaji, Meenakshi Deepak, Remya Rajiv, and Sheema Balakrishnan.
The program will conclude with a Hindustani-Carnatic jugalbandhi exploring the influence of Dhrupad on Dikshitar’s compositions. Vocalists Vidyasagar Vankayala and Akhil Jobanputra will be joined by an accomplished ensemble of musicians: Dwaipayan Ray (sarod), Shriram Rajagopalan (violin), Curtis Andrews (mridangam), and Sunny Matharu (jori–dhamma).
