Link your experience as a paraprofessional in education and become a certified teacher.
The Professional Linking Program (PLP) is a unique teacher education program that enables working paraprofessionals; educational assistants, student support workers; para-educators (e.g., social workers, counselors, settlement workers); adult educators; independent schools educators; and teachers working with letters of permission to become certified as teachers in British Columbia. The Professional Linking Program is unique in that it enables participants to pursue certification while continuing to work in their current positions for all but the long-practicum semester.
Applicants must have a minimum of two years of experience in their current roles and preference will be given to those working with children and youth at the grade level they wish to teach. Those accepted to PLP are required to be employed in a school setting working with children and youth at the grade level they wish to teach and at the level for which they have been accepted when the program starts.
