Exhibiting artist Dana Claxton will speak about her current exhibition “The Bead,” presented at UrbanScreen. 

“The Bead” honours beadwork as a living cultural practice, highlighting its role in expressing identity, lineage, and Lakota traditions through the handcrafted moccasins of Grace Peigan. The exhibition centres beadwork as a vital form of artistic expression across many Indigenous cultures on Turtle Island.

Following the talk, participants are invited to take part in a hands-on beading workshop lead by Alanna Edwards, Curator of current exhibitions “remember the earth, remember the sky,” Atheana Picha: Portals,” and “Zachery Cameron Longboy: HOST.”
