Join us at the Earth Rider Festival grounds on Friday, October 10th for local vendors, the “1 in 4” beer collab, resource tables of DV shelters, and pet-related businesses to raise awareness of domestic violence and the impact it can have on our furry friends. Partnering with Safe Haven, PAVSA, and Earth Rider Brewery/Cedar Lounge Beer Garden. Pets welcome!
DID YOU KNOW?
There are many victims suffering in violence. In fact, 1 in every 6 DV homicides in the U.S. is committed in Wisconsin. However, in 2024, CASDA’s statistics show that our organization alone helped shelter 115 adults and 59 children. Also, a combined 105 individuals were provided direct and supportive services throughout our service area. With strong advocacy and resources, we helped many families and individuals suffering and fleeing from abuse.
But what does this mean for our clients' beloved pets?
For many of us, our pets are loved and cherished no differently than a human family member. Our furry friends often bring us comfort, entertainment, and devoted companionship that make life that much sweeter. Although many breeds of animals are meant to protect us, they are still considered vulnerable creatures, which sadly can put them in a position of being harmed, manipulated, or worse, killed if the pet is exposed to someone prone to abusive tendencies.
The 'Paw'sitive Project: A DV & Animal Abuse Awareness Event" is intended to shed light on the harsh realities of domestic violence, and how pets and other animals are just as likely to be impacted by the abuse as their owners.
